Often the Resort will offer you free or cheap lodging (sometimes as low as $69 - $99 total lodging cost) for two or three nights at the Resort or Hotel in exchange for your agreeing to attend a 90-120 minute Sales Promotion presentation and Time Share Tour of the new Vacation Timeshare Resort sometime during your stay. Normally you must meet certain age and income requirements + sometimes also geographic requirements.
Usually you have to pay for all of your own transportation to get to the Resort, and most of your own meals and expenses. Sometimes you will get a free meal coupon or an area Theme Park Attraction Pass or two as part of the Romantic or Weekend Getaway or Free Timeshare Vacation promotion discount deal.

Many times your actual lodging is actually at a nearby nice hotel or motel -- which for the cheap price which includes the free Attraction Tickets or Dining Certificates you usually get, is still a very good Weekend Getaway vacation deal.
Often you will stay in the actual new Timeshare Resort in the early phase of the Timeshare Weeks Selling period -- when they have many unused timeshare condo weeks at the new Resort to use. As more time share weeks are sold and/or the resort becomes more successful with regular priced vacation condo rentals, scheduling the free stays at the Resort gets more difficult so they move the Getaway Vacation Promotion lodging to off site hotels or a "sister" older Resort.
My Wife and I have done a few of these " Free " time share vacations -- complete with the Timeshare Presentation & Tour -- and we have always have had a good experience. (Gene likes to go for the ones with the free Dining Voucher Coupons!) We have used them to add a couple of fun days to the beginning or end of a regular time share vacation where we have used a timeshare exchange week or our home resort in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
In one instance we were able to find two three day free time share vacations as vacation promotions in the same Florida vacation area almost back to back with only one paid lodging day in between -- very close to a 7 day almost free time share vacation with no lodging expense! It takes some online searching for time share promotion deals and discounted timeshare resort getaway packages, but it can be worth your search effort to find these cheap time share vacation promotion deals.

The Resort Time Share Tour & Presentation - what to expect and how to politely say "no"Sometimes the Sales "Pitch" you get is a fairly relaxed presentation and free Resort Time Share Tour of all the resort amenities, other times it can be somewhat high pressure - usually with some special "you must buy this now" discount offer that supposedly is only good that week or day.
Have a pre-arranged agreement between your spouse and you that you will not purchase anything right at the presentation -- AND that you must have some time for both of you to talk it over after the promotional presentation if it turns out you are interested in buying a timeshare week. You do not have to purchase a vacation timeshare resort week to get the special promotion discount lodging price, but be sure to complete your requirements for your discounted or "free" time share vacation getaway.
-- And -- also remember that in 1 or 2 years there will likely be several highly discounted Resale By Owner Time Shares at the Resort then available from new timeshare owners who went ahead and purchased a Time Share at the promotional sales presentation and who have by then discovered that Vacation Time Share Ownership does not "fit" them for one of the four reasons given at the top of our Vacation Time Shares by Owner page.
